Freebie Fridays - glow stick and food samples

I finally managed to get some free stuff in the US! Hoorah! :) It really helped that I went to the Fairport Music and Food Festival last Saturday, because free stuff always materialises at big events. Here's what I managed to get together as on-the-go free things:

A free cup of Monster energy drink. For those who know the effects of caffeine on me, no I didn't drink the whole cup. :) And weirdly, nothing weird really happened...

I got a glow stick! It made me really really very very happy :)

I also got me some free chocolate:)

No big group photo for my freebies this time, but I'm really happy that I managed to get a few things together. I'm beginning to think that freebies aren't as easily available in the US, but coupons are a completely different story. Coupons are everywhere and can sometimes mean you can get free stuff. Or ridiculously discounted. I'll do some research. Maybe I'll have to have "Almost Freebie Fridays" for a while instead. Hahaa. We'll see.

Hoorah for free stuff! :)

Hehehee!

I love fun signs. I've posted up quite a few that I have found on my travels. I found this sign today and it made me happy :)

The consequences are amazing!

More fun children signs on their way! :)

Zan Goes Exploring: Niagara, NY and Niagara, Ontario

A few years ago, I went to visit Niagara Falls. It was really really exciting, and really really good, but alas I was only on the American side. This time, I went to both sides of the Falls and it was even better. Here are some of my photo highlights :)

American Side: Zan at the Falls! Woooo!

Look at the rainbows! And there's Canada!

That was the mist from the Horseshoe Falls! Those Falls were huge!

Canadian Side: More rainbows!

Look how pretty it is! And there is the Maid of the Mist!

Ooh, my best shot of the Horseshoe Falls :)

Yay, a whole rainbow! The light and the mist was perfect for it! :)

I had a lovely time in Niagara in the US and in Canada. It makes me giggle that both countries have a city named Niagara Falls, but if I had something as spectacular looking as those waterfalls, I'd totally fight for it! Haha :) The Falls were amazing, and I'm totally going back again. There is no doubt at all. Something as awe inspiring as the Niagara Falls deserves much admiration. I'm fallen for the Falls. Hahaha.

Hoorah for rainbows, adventures and yay for Niagara Falls.

Little Bits of Fun :)

I've been mooching around and taking photos, enjoying the excitement of discovery and being happy :) Here are some of the sights I have seen:

You know you're in America when things are bigger. Even the moths.

You know you're in America when things are bigger. And when a slice of pizza is the size of your torso.

Fields of corn!

Pretty pretty sunset skies!

Rather silly and slightly unnecessary signs :)

A tiny, tiny snail - the baby version of a little something I have at home! I will have to take a photo when I get home :)

Little things really make me very very happy! There will be more coming soon! :) Woohooo! I love adventures! :)

Rhythm and Drum Fest!

Last year, I did a load of work with Rhythm Connect with Pop-Up Adventure Play. This year I came back to help Ed with a booth at the Fairport Music and Food Festival. It was really good fun, but really really hot - I'm pretty sure I've got some colour on me now. Here are some highlights of my day at the festival:

Everything's set up! It's so exciting!

Zan and drum!

Ed and drum!

Look, a stage! Lots of awesome live music!

That man had a fun ensemble of stuff stuck together to make music!

Little kiddies bungee jumping! Upside-down!

The little girl in the pink hat - it was sooo low down I couldn't see her eyes!

The FMFF bracelet that allows us in for free!

A slightly weird but very smiley mascot.

Tow your children round in this trolley thing - I've always been fascinated with these. Never seen them in the UK!

Drumming through the jungle with Ed of Rhythm Connect! Hoorah! :)

There was sooo much going on at the festival. Four stages of music and plenty of food options including pizza, seafood, tacos, frozen ice, burgers and popcorn! Everyone was really friendly and seemed to be having lots of fun! There was a wonderful community vibe, and I was really excited to be part of it. I also had loads of fun working with Ed again, and representing Rhythm Connect! :)

Congratulations to all those who took part at the FMFF for an amazing day and yay for Rhythm Connect! :)

Freebie Fridays - Giveaway Winner 2

Last week, I posted up Shazia's photo of her freebie goods that she got through the post from my Giveaway Day. This week, I'm posting up Wai's photos! Oh yes, she took me through the process of discovery:

Here it is! I remember sticking the package together like that!

And here is the package! She got:
2 sheets of detergent washes
2 little tubes of moisturiser
3 little thingies of cream
and a tiny bottle of whiskey!

Hoorah for Wai! She seemed super excited when she got her package. It's always nice when something comes through the door that's unexpected and fun! :) Yayayay! :)

Incidently, while I'm in the US, I've really quite missed having a front door where the post comes in. Everyone has mail boxes here, which aren't quite as fun to be honest with you. But they fit more stuff in. So I suppose there's a compromise there. Also, a side whisper, I've still not managed to get any freebies yet over here :( It takes time.

Hoorah for Wai and hoorah for free stuff! :)

Sketchbook!

I've signed up to the Sketchbook Project. It's a very cool project which involves me drawing, or writing, or painting, or doodling in a little book! Basically, when I've filled this little book, I send it back to the art gallery where it will then be put into a library, and people will see it, and then the little book will be taken on tour around the States! I think it's SO cool. It's also very scary too. MANY people will see what comes out of my little brain. HA! I was very nervous about taking that first step and making a mark in my book. But then I decided to compromise with myself:

I decided to draw on the outside first :)

This is a very exciting project for me. I think I wanted to do it to encourage myself to be more creative. And I kinda wanted myself to take it a little more seriously. We're gonna have to see where this takes me :) I'm SO excited :) Hoorah for new creative adventures! :)

Creatures

I have met some pretty cool creatures over the last few days. Here are three:

This is a llama. I've always wanted to meet a llama. It didn't spit at me. :)

This is an awesome photo of a grasshopper. Why was I able to get such a detailed photo of it? Because it was HUGE.

And this my friends, is an emu. This bird is creepy, and to me feels like what I imagine a pterodactyl would have been like. Really cool, but really creepy.

I never thought how animals are different in the US as well as most other things, so I've been super curious about everything. I'm totally looking forward to taking a photo of a chipmunk! I've only seen them whizz past me, and they are tiny! I didn't realise! Anyway, onwards! :)

Onion and a Half

I've found a new vegetable to add to my collection!

It's so big! :)

I love my giant fruit! :) Yay! :) I'm totally on the look out for more! :) Hoorah for huge fruit! :)

Freebie Fridays - Giveaway Winner!

Do you remember my giveaway day I had a few weeks ago? Well, just before I left for the US, I posted off the mystery packages to the two lucky winners. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a photo from one of the recipients - and here it is! :)

This was Shazia's mystery goody bag:
some sachets of shampoo
couple of thingies of foundation makeup thingy
and some Squares!

I'm really chuffed that I have been able to share my freebies! Nothing to report in the US as yet, but I'm keeping an eye out! Watch this space! :)

Chex Mix

Chex Mix is a delicious snack. I think I'd have to describe it as moreish. And a really good substitute for the likes of popcorn. I'm pretty much addicted to it. It's SO good!

I have talked to a few people in the UK about Chex Mix but I've never been able to explain it properly because, weirdly, the UK hasn't got any Chex cereal! I even bought the special seasoned salt and took it home in the hope that they had some cereal like Chex in the UK so I could make this delicious snack! Here is a photo of a homemade batch:

The ingredients for Chex Mix are 3 types of Chex cereal, peanuts, seasoned salt and butter. Sometimes people put pretzels in. Personally, I don't see the point in the peanuts, but you know - they must add flavour! :)

There was a big rain storm today. I got SO wet, it was very funny. Good job I had the Chex Mix to keep me happy as I got dry! :) More food to come! :)

More NOM NOM!

I'm getting re-acquainting myself with the deliciousness of American food. Here's an example:

Root beer! In a wine glass of course, because I'm classy like that!

Oh, and this photo I dedicate to my friend Nancy. Look! So much! It's absolutely delicious!

More foody pics to come. Because I can. Because Frank (the gallbladder) is gone now, and it's allowed me to eat! Oh yes! :) NOM NOM NOM! :)

US of NOM!

I'm here, in the US and I've had some cake already :)

This is a cannoli. My lovely friends and colleagues Morgan and Sharon treated me to it :) We had a black and white cake too :)

I'm very sleepy at the moment but I made it to 11pm, which I'm very chuffed about. But now it's sleep time to goodnight from me! :)

Packing Light

I'm very particular when it comes to packing. I meditate on it weeks in advance, planning which items need to go in the wash and what items I'll need to wear before it gets packed away. About a week before I leave something funny happens near the suitcase, and my sister used to see it and say "Oh, the square man is back"...

Oh yes. This evidence of Zan packing. This is a photo of what a 3-month pack looks like. A 3-day pack would look the same, but without the suitcases :)

About an hour after I took this photo, I found myself in a very odd situation. I had put everything you see (plus a pair of flip-flops, and my cosmetics bag) and miraculously I still had room! I didn't really know what to do with that. It isn't often that you have spare room in your suitcase. I already had everything I needed too. Haha.

I ended up packing a couple more playwork books, and transferring all the stuff I would have kept in the mini suitcase in the big one, and then went to buy a load of snacks/junk food to go into the little case. Now everything is all packed apart from my laptop, so hoorah! :) I really really like packing. It's like a puzzle. And I beat the game every time :) Hahaha.

Anyway, I'm pretty much ready to go: my flight is in the morning tomorrow. If everything goes well and I don't get caught in extreme snow or crazy hurricanes, the next time you'll hear from me, I'll should be in the US! Woohoo! See you on the other side! :)

Freebie Friday - exfoliating wash

I have completely cooled off with the free stuff because I'm going away, but I got a bit of a surprise this week in the form of exfoliating wash:

It's full size and everything! I was so pleased! :)

So that's a final hoorah before I jet off to the US. It may be a couple of weeks before I get to show any free stuff off, but there may well be American products on show for freebie fridays :)

Now, to business! I had Giveaway Day last friday! And there were only two responses! My lovely friends Wai and Shazia both left me messages for my freebie giveaway so I've decided that I have two winners! TWO WINNERS! I shall reiterate:

The winners are Wai and Shazia!

Huge applause for the winners! :) WOOOOOO! :) Please send me a photo of your freebie goodies when you receive them :) Woooo! :) Well done you two! :) And hoorah for all! :)

PM Time!

I met some of my college friends for food just before I go off to the US. It was a lovely day today so we wandered around for a bit, and enjoyed the rare sunshine that appeared in Manchester.

And as usual, on a PM trip of any sort, there was some form of very ridiculous foodstuff:

This is the "Teatime Treat" - dessert as big as my face! Oh my life! Ingredients of this dessert: jaffa cakes, a wagon wheel, a teacake (that you can see), chocolate fingers, chocolate brownies, icecream and butterscotch sauce and cream.

I promise I didn't eat it all myself - I had help, but even then we didn't quite finish it. The waitress pessimistically brought 4 spoons over, but we were like NO. We'll eat it between two of us. We almost did. Haha. Now I feel fat. But I am happy. :)

I had a lovely evening with the PMs, like there's any other type of evening with the PMs. Love them all. Hoorah for my PMs! :)

Flight of the Angry Birds

You might remember that I got an Angry Birds game for my birthday. Well, today, I decided it was high time that they fly.

Getting ready to fly solo...

Hoorah! We have flight!

Now this is just showing off...

Hold on, who are they?

More flying Angry Birds!

Hehehehe!

Angry birds reflecting on a blue sky day. It was great weather for a first flight. Good job birdies!

I had fun taking this set of photos. My mum happened to be in the garden at the time. She watched me struggle to launch the birds, laughed, and came over to help. This ended up with her standing on a chair just above me and shouting at the top of her lungs... well... the usual. It was pretty funny! As long as we got some good photos! Hoorah! :)
